East Claydon Storage is a battery energy storage system, which will provide critical grid balancing support, to manage the increase of renewable generation in the country. By connecting to the National Grid transmission network East Claydon Storage will be able to play a fundamental role in providing energy security to the UK. Once operational the site would have the potential to power up 540,000 homes with clean electricity. Playing an important role in meeting the Government's net zero targets.
East Claydon Storage's planning application is being appealed and will be subject to a Hearing by the Planning Inspectorate under appeal reference Appeal Ref: APP/J0405/W/25/3360815. The Hearing date is scheduled for the 22nd July 2025. Details of which can be found via the Council's appeal page or the Planning Inspectorate website.
